An internal stud wall is a non-structural partition used to divide rooms. It consists of a lightweight timber or metal frame, typically lined with plasterboard on both sides, and can incorporate insulation for acoustic or thermal performance. Unlike load-bearing walls, it carries no structural load and can be positioned almost anywhere within a building.
